In the division of assets the inevitably happens post separation, there became a serious lack of furniture. With my Dad in tow we headed off to our local tip shop. So many treasures to be found in this palace. The need: two arm chairs to replace one ghastly black couch I was not unhappy to see go.
Low and behold past the hat stands of 80s gold, books for $1 or so I am told, what do I find, not one, but two matching vintage chairs, Kirkcaldie & Stains original – I have a label, I promise. Will update later with image as proof.
This chair and it’s sibling have new purpose in my home, an amazing bargain at $20 each. They are favourites with visitors and small people alike. All that was required, a vacuum. The upholstery is still intact. Springs in good working function and suitably adequate padding in the cushions. To the person who donated these, thank you, not only have you helped me out, but a portion of the sale goes towards employment in the community programmes, and you saved the earth some landfill. Thank you
